International Literacy Day 2008

SUPRO Tangail District Committee observed Interanational Literacy Day 2008 through organising a coulourful Human Chain, Rally and Discussion Meeting on 08 September 2008. At the very begining of morning at 9.30 am, a Colourful Rally began from Bindu Basini Boys Shool and its walked around the city and ended at District Shahid Minar where a Human Chain also organised where local students from diffirent schools, citizen groups participated.

At 10 am a joint discussion meeting held in collaboration of District Public Administration at Public Library Auditorium where Mr. Abul Hasan, District Commissionar (Education and Development) chaired while Newly appointed District Commissionar Masudul Alam Patoary spoke as chief guest.  Manju Rani Pramanik, SUPRO District Secretary and National Council Member presented the key note paper on Remedy of poverty occurs through establishing educational rights while Mr. Mijanur Rahman, Assitant Police Super of the District; Doctor H R Khan;  Educationalist Shamsuzzaman Khan; Jounalist Advocate Khan Mohammad Khaled; Khodokar Nazim Uddin; Khodokar Anowar Hossain; Principal Shamsul Huda; Professor Yusuf Ali, Poet Ashraf Siddique; Mahmuda Begum Shelly; Mr. Chand Sultan spoke in the discussion.

The speakers demanded to education to the children affected by river erosion of Jamuna and Dhaleshari. They expressed soliderity to the demands of SUPRO in the meeting. 

In the Nagorpur Upazilla, Sorony gave literacy to 100 illiterate women in the 100 gardian meetings in occassion of the day.
